Voice apps for Mac

Juno vs Wispr Flow, Superwhisper, echo agent and Claude Code voice

All five let you talk instead of type. The difference is what happens next: a dictation app types your words, Claude Code voice fills a prompt, echo agent hands the job to a coding tool, and Juno does the job itself, in whatever app it lives in.

Which one to pick

Wispr Flow
You want to type faster everywhere, including on Windows and your phone, and you are happy for audio to go to a server.
Superwhisper
You want dictation that can stay on your Mac, saved modes for different kinds of writing, or transcription of audio files.
Claude Code voice
You already live in the Claude Code terminal. Type /voice and there is nothing else to install.
echo agent
Your work is mostly coding tasks you want to hand to Claude Code or Codex from wherever you are, or you speak Chinese or mix it with English.
Juno
You want the job itself done in whatever app it lives in: mail, Finder, System Settings, a web form, an app with no API. Dictation comes with it, on your Mac, for nothing.

Questions people ask

Is Juno a dictation app?
It does dictate. Hold the key, speak, and the words are typed where your cursor is, transcribed on your Mac. The difference is that the same voice can also ask for something to be done, and Juno goes and does it by reading the screen and using the mouse and keyboard.
How is Juno different from echo agent?
echo agent passes your request to the Claude Code or Codex command line and reports what it did, which suits coding work well. Juno operates the apps on your screen directly, so it can finish tasks that have no command line at all, like filing a form, changing a setting or moving files in Finder. Juno can also run on your Claude Code login, so you do not need a separate model account.
Do I still need Claude Code's /voice if I use Juno?
Not for getting things done outside the terminal. Inside it, /voice is handy and the two do not conflict.
Is my voice uploaded?
Not with Juno. Speech is recognized on your Mac and recordings are not uploaded. Screenshots go to the model you chose only while a task you started is running.
Can I use more than one?
Yes. Give each its own shortcut. Plenty of people keep a dictation app they like and add Juno for the jobs that need doing rather than typing.

Free, and the source is public. macOS 14+.
